LIBRARY WITHOUT READERS Books Without Shelters

The library was founded since 1936. It started with only one employee - Aharon Chobanyan. Now the library has four employees. The library still has not its own building and it's a part of the public school of Ninotsminda. The library building is too old and it doesn’t have comfortable and furnished reading hall.

Ninotsminda’s library receives books in the amount of 1000 lari every year. Starting from 90’s the library hasn’t been replenishing with the Armenian and Russian language books and the literature it gets is only in the Georgian language.

The number of readers is decreasing annually, because all the new books, the library gets, is in Georgian. The locals who are mostly ethnic Armenians, don't know Georgian. So Armenian readers in search of contemporary literature usually leaves the library without a book.

During the presentation the guests had an opportunity to discuss the issues related to the library. The most active participants were awarded with access to electronic books.
