A day of discovery for future Pirates

Thousands of prospective students and their families attended East Carolina University’s Fall Open House, Saturday, November 5th in Greenville, North Carolina. Hosted by the ECU Office of Undergraduate Admissions, future Pirates enjoyed a flexible array of informational sessions on admissions, financial aid, campus living and dining. Opportunities to explore the academic and student life aspects of campus were also available.

The Academic and Student Affairs Fair provided attendees with the opportunity to discover a wide array of academic and student life offerings. Faculty, staff and current students provided answers to questions regarding programs of study, financial aid, housing, dining, student organizations, transportation, admissions, and much more.

Visitors make a special connection to ECU by taking a student-led walking tour of main campus.

Walking tours of campus were led by knowledgeable student tour guides. These tours are similar to the daily tours offered Monday - Friday at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM via our Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

'Ask a Pirate' Student and Parent Panels afforded prospective students the opportunity to ask just about any question of current East Carolina students. Concurrent sessions for parents allowed family members an opportunity to participate as well.

Open House is for parents as much as it is for students.

Academic Tours afforded future students and their families an opportunity to learn more about a particular academic department; and most included an information session, access to faculty, and tours of the facilities.

Many current students opened their doors to visitors participating in the residence hall tours.

Visiting residence halls and eating in the dining halls were popular activities during Fall Open House. East Carolina University encouraged attendees to tour the residence halls and take their pick of the varied campus dining options across campus.

"Open house, for many prospective students, is their first step toward selecting a college. ECU's open experience provides future Pirates and their parents the opportunity to review academic majors, to learn about campus living and dining programs and to ask questions about financial aid all in one day."

John T. Fletcher, EdD | Associate Provost for Enrollment Services

"Open House is a great way for high school students and their parents to talk directly with faculty, staff and students about our outstanding academic programs and the opportunities they will enjoy if they choose to attend ECU next fall."

Dave Meredith, PhD | Director, Office of Undergraduate Admissions

"I strongly encourage any interested student to submit their application, transcript and test scores as soon as possible. The sooner we have a complete application, the sooner we can evaluate their credentials and send them their decision letter."
