Before I was aware that capturing photos could be a career my interest in photography started when I was a little kid and my grandma would give me her phone. Her camera roll would be full of my selfies styled with whatever funny poses I could think of. Eventually I took control of my mom's Samsung camera in middle school and had fun photographing plants, people, and landscapes. Compared to my beginning portraiture, monochrome, landscapes, and random subjects that catch my eye have expanded my portfolio.

Many people internationally, including myself, were adjusting to the new normal. The Covid-19 Pandemic has resulted in the on going shift of social distancing, homeschooling, working from home, surgical masks/ creatively substituting cloths, and thousands of deaths and recoveries. My school entered "Corona-cation" as the pandemic approached its peak, with the attitude that we would return to our teachers and classmates soon. This was not the case. It is impossible for anyone to claim that they've gone a more than two days without hearing "We are dealing with uncharted territory" because that's the truth. It's a simple yet simultaneously complicated truth. In this uncharted territory I did become unmotivated for a certain amount of time and often lost track of the days. The photos in this grid are what I captured after going for my first walk, at least 1 month post-quarantine, and I regained my creativity.

Top Left) A quarantine barbecued in my backyard created by my mother. Top Right) As I sat on my stoop I thought about the urge to stay connected with nature while spending more time with technology due to Covid-19
These are photos from my first social distancing walk with my father on May 16th.

On May 25th of 2020 , an African-American man named George Floyd was murdered by police officer Derek Chauvin and three other cops. The infamous video gained millions of views and sparked international outrage. This is an on going event, as there have been protests in all 50 U.S states by people of all races and ethnicities, more exposure of police brutality, and even international support because the African diaspora is everywhere.

George Floyd, Amaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner... ? I as an individual can only do so much to help my community and the movement. Seeing as how the media is an extremely effective way to spread awareness it is now means more than ever to me.

Can't you see it in my eyes?

You're threatened by my pigmentation
