Community Service Group Descriptions

Alessia Gym

This group works in the school’s gym to keep things clean and in order. They are responsible for thinking about what equipment needs to be replaced and what new equipment we might need.

Balispark and Pump Track

In the Fall and Summer terms, this group helps to clean and maintain the Pump Track by cleaning up and removing invasive plant species. In the Winter Term, this group helps to groom and maintain the Balisalp freestyle park.

Chair Setting

When events occur in the Grossen Saal or in other spaces and we need to set up chairs for the school, this group works to set up those chairs in the required arrangement.

Cheese Making

Once a month this group takes the goat milk from our own goats and produces goat cheese.

Compost

Each breakfast and lunch this group collects compost from the tables in the Esssaal at the end of the meal. They are also responsible for turning the compost and moving it from one bin to another once per month.

Ecole Art

This group takes art that has been created by Ecole students and hangs it in various spaces on campus. They often work for longer periods of time, but less frequently.

Ecole Cafe

The Ecole café opens twice a week as an open place to play pool, board games, listen to music with a shop to buy snacks and drinks.

Library group

Help organize, display, review and order books. Plan book-related events and tackle exciting new projects.

Wednesday 4th hour

Free Store and Clothing Repair

The Free Store at the Ecole is a store with items (clothing, school supplies, room decorations, etc.) that can be taken for no money - hence the Free Store. This group is responsible for keeping the store organized and putting newly donated items in the proper place. They will also offer the service to the student body of minor clothing repair. If you know how to sew or would like to learn, this is the group for you.

Gardening

This group works to take care of the flower gardens around campus. Each student will work individually or in a pair to take care of one garden space on campus.

Real Talk

You organize the weekly Real Talks

Meeting Time: Thursdays from 19:30 - 21:00, but there will be additional work outside of this hour as well.

This group is responsible for delivering mail to students during lunch as well as organizing the packages that arrive.

Recycling

This group is responsible for maintaining order in the recycling room and bringing recycling to the recycling facility, Sandhubel. They also share proper recycling practices with the community in Schulgemeinde.

Stage Building and Lighting

This group is in charge of setting up the stage, curtains, and lighting for Ecole productions. They meet infrequently, but work for long periods of time.

Help other students solve Chromebook issues one night per week in the Learning Center

Yearbook

Du hast Lust in einem kreativen Team mitzuarbeiten und gemeinsam neue Ideen fürs Ecole-Jahrbuch zu entwickeln und umzusetzen? Hast du Freude am Photographieren (ev. mit deiner eigenen Camera) oder graphischen Gestalten, Layouten, hast vielleicht schon Erfahrung im Umgang mit Bildbearbeitungsprogrammen oder einfach Mum.

Would you like to work in a creative team and develop and implement new ideas for the Ecole yearbook together? Do you enjoy taking photos (possibly with your own camera) or graphic design and layout? Maybe you already have experience in handling image processing programs or just interest to get to know all of this.
