Covid-19 Updates and Reminders

Daily COVID-19 Health Screening

  • Remember to perform the Daily Self Screener:
  • Click on the below button to follow the COVID-19 Process Map for staff and students.
  • Follow the below Covid-19 Process in the event of a positive case
  • On-Site testing scheduled for this Friday September 24, 2021.
I-Ready Diagnostic
  • Students in grades 6-9, will be participating in the I-Readydiagnostic assessment over the next couple of weeks.
  • i‑Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment designed to provide teachers with actionable insight into student needs. It offers a complete picture of student performance and growth, eliminating the need for multiple redundant tests.
  • By adapting to student responses and assessing a broad range of skills—including skills above and below a student’s chronological grade—the i‑Ready Diagnostic pinpoints student ability level, identifies the specific skills students need to learn to accelerate their growth, and charts a personalized learning path for each student.
Alerts
  • GoGuardian is a security feature that our districts has that alerts administration of any safety risk concerns: bomb threats, gun violence, suicide, or self harm.
  • We get several alerts through our GoGuardian feature and often times it’s research-related.
  • In the event of receiving a message that is high risk, we will respond with immediate action by contacting parents and meeting with the student.
  • If it’s during the weekend, we will still call a parent.
  • If there is a high risk during the weekend, we will provide resources and actions steps to facilitate.

September 15th-October 15th
  • In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students will have access to books authored by Latinx.
  • Students may request to visit Mrs. Boyd at the library to check out books on display.
  • Arts and Academic Departments share with administration anything that you are doing in your classrooms to recognize and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Open House: Save the Date (September 30th)
  • We will be holding our Open House Virtually this year.
  • There will be more information forthcoming.

  • We celebrate Mason Klosowski for being recognized at the Middle School Dance Major of the Month.

Art Majors

Lindsey Ostafey’s 7th Grade

  • 7th-grade visual arts majors will be participating in the following public exhibition at The Contemporary.
  • The opening is October 3rd!

National Honor Society Inductees:

  • We will be celebrating the induction of 30 new members to the National Honor Society on September 21, 2021.
  • Dean Bolden will be the guest speaker and honored to be a part of the celebration of this upcoming event.

Maia Palmer’s Class

  • Check out the amazing Artist Trading Cards (2.5" x 3.5") with drawings on the front and positive self-talk on the back, such as "You got this!" or "I believe in you!" as part of our Emotional Social Learning work with the art department.

Erin Sullivan’s AP Class:

  • AP Social Studies Class will be facilitating a International Day of Peace Challenge. September 21, 2021.
  • There will be group discussions, our District’s Education Bus (EdTV) will capture students insight on Peace, along with a Day of Peace Challenge school wide activity.

Instrumental Band

  • Instrumental Band rallied our Force Football team to victory before participating in completion in Odessa.

Girls Volleyball Team

  • Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball team win against DMA this last week.

Cab Calloway Student Voice

  • Dean Bolden will continue to meet with Cab’s student voice organizations this week.

Mr. Goldsborough’s class ready to engage
Parent and Student Workshops
  • In support of our efforts to accelerate learning and offer parents additional resources for college preparation, we are looking to provide interactive workshops over the course of the school year.
  • The workshops will be facilitated by Dr. Stephen Jones, the Dean of Engineer at Villanova University.
  • Dr. Stephen Jones is currently an Associate Dean of SUCCESS in the College of Engineering at Villanova University.
  • For thirteen years he worked at Drexel University as Director of the SUCCESS/ACT101 program. Dr. Jones is also CEO of SAJ Publishing and Education Services.
  • He is the author of three books titled “Seven Secrets of How to Study” the “Parent’s Ultimate Education Guide” the “Ultimate Scholarship Guide.”
  • The first workshop will be in-person, followed by a series of workshops via Zoom.

Clubs and Activities Information
  • Dr. Robinson will be sharing updates in activity buses and start dates for clubs.
  • Teacher Aides Permission Forms will be given to students who have study halls and would like to be assigned as a teacher aide. Students will be required to have a permission slip signed in order to participate.
  • Senior Privilege will begin the week of September 27th. Permission slips will need to be signed before approval.
Tik Tok Challenge
  • There is a new Tik Tok trend that involves vandalism and stealing, while recording the action on Tik Tok.
  • Students who engage in this activity will be held accountable in alignment with the Student Code of Conduct which may include suspension, loss of privileges, and/or restitution.
