Last Friday, 9/10, The Staples Wreckers played the Trumbull Eagles in the home opener football game.
The Cheerleaders celebrate the interception-turned touchdown by Charlie Howard ’22, scored with 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter, leading the Wreckers to beat the Eagles 27 - 20.
The team, including Ryan Thompson ’22 who earned game MVP, exits the field for halftime. Thompson led the Wreckers by example, throwing nearly 300 yards in this Friday night game.
The Westport community eagerly gathered to show their support; the crowd was packed with students, parents and friends cheering on the Wreckers.
Wrecker Bob, the Staples mascot, made an appearance last night in the new costume.
The theme of this game was a "White Out", as chosen by the Superfan Captains. Students dressed in white clothing and accessories to support their fellow Wreckers.
The Staples cheerleaders motivated the crowd through flips and cheers as fans rallied alongside.
