2019 PRESEASON RMAC VOLLEYBALL #RMACVB

ABOUT THE RMAC: The RMAC is a premier NCAA Division II conference with 16-member schools, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The RMAC sponsors 21 varsity NCAA sports and has produced 62 NCAA Division II national champions and 52 national runners-up since 1992.

Meet The #RMACvb Teams

Preseason Coaches' Poll

Colorado School of Mines was selected to win the 2019 RMAC Volleyball Championship after receiving nine first-place votes in the preseason coaches' poll. Dixie State ranks third in the preseason coaches' polls with three first-place votes. Sneaking in between first and third place is Colorado Mesa who upset both Mines and Dixie State in the 2018 RMAC Volleyball Tournament. CMU earned four first-place votes in the preseason coaches' poll.

Regis University was selected No. 4 in the 2019 preseason coaches' poll. The Rangers move up one spot from last seasons coaches' poll after finishing the 2018 season with a RMAC record of 14-4 and an overall record of 19-10.

Metropolitan State University and Colorado Christian take up the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in the preseason coaches' poll. Both the Roadrunners and the Cougars qualified for the 2018 RMAC Volleyball Tournament.

University of Colorado Colorado Springs garnered the No. 7 spot in the preseason coaches' poll. UCCS finished last season with an RMAC record of 10-8 and overall record of 12-16. They will be looking to qualify again for the RMAC Volleyball Tournament.

Fort Lewis, Adams State, Black Hills State, Colorado State Pueblo, New Mexico Highlands, Chadron State, Westminster, South Dakota School of Mines and Western University round out the 2019 preseason coaches' poll finishing ninth-16th, respectively.

Adams State University Grizzlies (9-9 RMAC, 12-14 Overall)
#5 Shannon Mulkey [Jr., MH, Parker, TX, Plano East HS]
  • 2018 Stats: Played 100 sets, starting all 26 matches played. Led the Grizzlies with 321.5 points, 3.22 points per set and attacking percentage (.264). She was second on the team with 276 kills and 2.75 kills per set.
#4 Mackenzie Swanson [Jr., DS/S, Houston, TX, Galena Park HS]
  • 2018 Stats: Started one of 26 matches played in as she competed in 101 sets. Led the Grizzlies with 410 digs (4.06/set).
Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets (6-12 RMAC, 9-16 Overall)
#15 Laurel Lech [Sr., S, Highlands Ranch, Colo., Thunderridge HS]
  • 2018 Accolades: All-RMAC Honorable Mention, RMAC Honor Roll, eighth in RMAC with 8.07 assists per set.

  • Other Highlights: Currently sixth on the all-time BHSU career assist list (1872).

Dixie State Trailblazers (16-2 RMAC, 22-6 Overall)
#6 Lauren Gammell [Sr., RS-MB, Spanish Fork, Utah, Spanish Fork HS]
  • 2018 Accolades: Lauren collected Third Team D2CCA and HM AVCA All-America honors, along with RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, first team all-RMAC and D2CCA South Central Region, and AVCA Region honorable mention awards last season, and was the 2018 NCAA Division II national statistical champion in blocks per set (1.56 bps) and finished ranked sixth-nationally in total blocks (162).
  • Stats: The four-time RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree shattered both DSU single-season block assist (148) and total blocks records (162), and closed her junior year as DSU's career leader in block assists (263) and total blocks (288). The junior also tied DSU's single-season record for total blocks (11) vs. Colorado Mesa (9/15), at CMU (10/12) and vs. Regis (10/27). On the offensive end, Gammell hit .220 on the season with 162 kills and had six or more kills on 13 occasions, including eight kills vs. UCCS (11/6), and posted her first career double-double with 10 kills and 11 blocks at CMU (10/12).
#13 Megan Treanor [Jr., RS-S, Salem, Utah, Salem Hills HS, Salt Lake CC]
  • 2018 Accolades: Megan garnered Second Team AVCA All-America honors, along with first team all-RMAC and AVCA South Central Region and second team D2CCA Region recognition in 2018. She led DSU in kills (286) and double-doubles (12), including a 12-kill, 16-assist effort in the NCAA regional loss to CMU. Treanor posted a 14-kill, 12-assist night with nine digs and four blocks in the RMAC quarterfinal win over UCCS (11/6). Treanor also finished second on the team in assists (287), fifth in digs (128) and fourth in blocks (78). The sophomore, who was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 17, posted double figures in kills in 16 of 26 outings, including nine RMAC matches. She tallied a career-high 19 kills in wins at then nationally-ranked Northwest Nazarene and vs. current #13 Tarleton State, while six of her 12 double-doubles have come in RMAC play, including a 14-kill, 28-assist performance in a five-set loss at Colorado School of Mines (9/28).
Fort Lewis College Sky Hawks (9-9 RMAC, 9-14 Overall)
#17 Tye Wedhorn [So., MB, Glenwood Springs, Colo., Glenwood Springs HS]
  • 2018 Accolades: Wedhorn jumped onto the scene as a freshman as she ranked fifth in the RMAC in hitting percentage (.356), and ninth in total blocks (62) en route to earning Second-Team All-Conference honors. She ranked third on the Skyhawks with 160 kills.
  • Payton Harmann [Fr., S/RS, Peoria, Ariz., Sunrise Mountain HS] - Harmann is a Peoria, Ariz. native and will bring her multiple All-Region honors during her high school career to Durango. The 5-foot, 10-inch setter was a four-year letter winner at Sunrise Mountain High School and earned First-Team All-Region honors in 2016 and 2017.
Metropolitan State University Denver Roadrunners (15-3 RMAC, 21-10 Overall)
#8 Alyssa Kelling [Sr., MB, Merton, Wisc., Arrowhead]
  • 2018 Accolades: MSU Denver Athletic Director's Honor Roll (2X), 2018 All-RMAC second team, 2018 Academic All-RMAC
  • Career Accolades: MSU Denver Athletic Director's Honor Roll (5X), 2017 Academic All-RMAC honor roll, 2016 All-RMAC honorable mention, 2016 Academic All-RMAC honor roll, 2016 RMAC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 3).
  • 2018 Stats: Ranked fourth in the RMAC with an average of 1.04 blocks per set. Led the team in blocks per set, blocks (114) and block assists (101) and shared the team lead in solo blocks (13). Second on the team (minimum 30 attacks) with .281 hitting percentage and fourth on the team in kills (189) as well as fifth on the team with 1.72 kills per set. Had at least seven blocks in four matches, including an RMAC Tournament semifinal win at Colorado School of Mines (Nov. 9), a match in which she also hit .538 with eight kills. Hit .400 or better with six or more kills in eight matches.
#13 Kayla White [Jr., OH, Montgomery, Ala., Montgomery Academy]
  • 2018 Accolades: MSU Denver Athletic Director's Honor Roll (2X), 2018 RMAC Academic Honor Roll.
  • Career Accolades: Athletic Director's Honor Roll (2X).
  • 2018 Stats: Ranked fourth on the team with 1.9 kills per set and fifth with 135 kills. Ranked third with 0.7 blocks per set and 50 total blocks, and was third with nine solo blocks. Contributed career-best six blocks along with eight kills in thrilling come-from-behind RMAC Tournament semifinal win at Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 9. Helped MSU Denver to an RMAC Tournament quarterfinal win over Regis on Nov. 6 with 10 kills on career-best (minimum 10 kills) .389 hitting. Had a career high of 13 kills on .360 hitting in a sweep of Chadron State on Nov. 1. Torched Colorado Christian for 11 kills, four blocks and five service aces in a four-set win on Sept. 14, adding 10 digs for a double-double.
New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls (7-11 RMAC, 9-17 Overall)
#2 Celina Naranjo [Sr., S, Espanola, N.M., Espanola Valley HS]
  • 2018 Accolades: Led the Cowgirls in assists (497) and assists per set (5.34) while ranking third in aces (19) and fifth in digs (162).
  • Career Accolades: Has played in 65 matches for the Cowgirls during her three years.
#11 Taley Ferrari [So., MB, Aztex, N.M., Aztec HS]
  • 2018 Accolades: As a freshman, led the Cowgirls in blocks (55) and blocks per set (0.68). She was also sixth on the team in kills (96).

#9 Hanna Hendrickson [Jr., S, Rogersville, MO, Logan-Rogersville HS]
  • 2018 Stats: In her second year, Hendrickson started 26 of 26 matches, playing a total of 84 sets. With 640 assists over the season, she averaged 7.62 assists per set. On top of that she had 191 digs and 29 total blocks.
