Lacets de Montvernier A tale with a twist

It must be the shortest hill climb in the French Alps

it's less than 4km

but 18 tight hairpin bends

about 150m from bend to bend

all around the huge mountains are like burley bouncers compared with our delicate,lace-like road

it's not too steep - about 8% average
with wonderful early morning views
looking from the top doesn't do the road justice

naturally we had to carry on once we had reached the top. the road continued to the Col de Chaussy

the road climbed steadily
feeling the pain
dwarfed by the surroundings
no right turn!
one kilometre to go
a beautiful day and great start to the holiday

the lacets had been on our "to do" list since the tour de france included it in 2015. because of the lack of space along the road, no fans were allowed and the attending caravan had to take another route.
