Concentration
The idea of my concentration is to show the range of emotions that people have when a loved one is overcome with a sickness. To portray this emotion I am using the journey that I endured from my best friend Mackenzie. From the day I met her in kindergarten up until her last breath in 2013, I was by her side through her treacherous journey with the dreaded disease of cancer. After enduring cancer 5 different times, Mackenzie went from having the lively smile that everyone loved, to not even having the energy to smile. Throughout my concentration I have created artwork showing the transformation that Mackenzie went through. I have included artwork of her laughing and having fun such as pieces with her and her sister, as well as artwork of her hugging her little sister goodbye.

- Some of the most important skills I draw upon to create my work are patience and preciseness. I always take my time on my art, even though sometimes I probably shouldn't have, but it all turned out fine. I got frustrated a lot, but throughout the year I learned to be patient and just keep working.
- I believe some of the most successful aspects of my work are portraying the message I wanted to in my concentration section and showing my range of skills in the breadth section. Many people that looked at my concentration could feel the emotion I put into it. Some even said they felt as though they went through her journey with her through my art work, which is what I was trying to do. Along with that, in my breadth section I went outside my comfort zone and used lots of different types of media. I was able to show that I am capable of using more than just colored pencils in my work.
- There are a lot of significant things that I learned this year in AP Studio Art. First off I learned, do your summer homework. I waited until the end of summer to start my work and then was unable to complete it due to a death in the family, so I started off the year already behind on my work when I could have just done my homework in the first place. I also learned that good art work takes time and effort. There are sometimes where I will just throw a piece of artwork together and it won't look horrible, but I can tell that most of my best works were made when I planned out what I was going to do and then actually took the time to do it.
- Some advice that I would give to other artists taking AP Studio Art is put your time as well as effort into your work. It is a lot that you have to get done in one year so it might get a little overwhelming, but you can do it. Make sure you meet your deadlines because otherwise you will just get swamped with work. Use your imagination and work hard and you will be perfectly fine in this class.
