Irish American Bar Holds ‘Bloomsday’ Celebration Photographs by David Handschuh

The Irish American Bar Association of New York held its annual Bloomsday celebration at Federal Hall on Wall Street on Monday. The event recognizes the contribution of the Irish to literature, especially the role James Joyce’s “Ulysses” had in forging and solidifying First Amendment protections.

Among those attending were, above from left, the association’s president Oisin Lambe, an associate at Szendel; event chair Professor JaneAnne Murray, University of Minnesota Law School; Caitlin Halligan, a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and keynote speaker who gave this year’s John Quinn Memorial Address; and event chair Janet Walsh, a partner with Locks Law Firm.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., above, introduced the keynote speaker.
