  • As most are now aware, Gov. Abbott’s Executive Order Executive Order No. GA-36 issued 5.18.21 provides that face coverings are no longer required on the campus. The University will continue to observe social distancing. Find out more online at the COVID-19 Resource Center.
  • You and your family can take part in free COVID-19 testing here on campus at our Curative kiosk located in the breezeway.
  • Congratulations to our Dr. Rosa Saldivar, clinical assistant professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, for her selection as the 2021 DAISY Award recipient.
  • Best wishes are also in order to our 2021 graduates of the TAMIU Julieta and Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM Studies.

  • TAMIU employees: A big thank you for your participation in our annual TAMIU Enrichment Day Friday. It’s always an honor to celebrate our employees and their remarkable contributions to our University’s mission. A big round of applause for our Outstanding Employee Service Award recipients: Erika Noyola, Academic Success Coach II, and Adrian Domínguez, Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
  • We also had an opportunity to provide Service Awards for FY 2020 and 2021 which recognized employees’ combined 1,460 years of service to TAMIU. We’ll recognize our Faculty Service at Faculty Assembly in the Fall. Thank you all for your support of our mission and service.

TAMIU Offers Curative Testing, On Campus; Open to All

TAMIU is now home to a CURATIVE COVID-19 Testing Kiosk on campus, located in the breezeway between Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall and Dr. F. M. Canseco Hall, with testing now offered every week, Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

TAMIU-SBDC Offers Webinars for Small Business Owners in May, June

TAMIU’s Small Business Development Center continues to host a variety of web-based seminars that are available to all members of the community. 

“These webinars provide practical insight, are offered by seasoned practitioners, and are presented online at times convenient to small business owners,” said Norma L. Rodríguez, TAMIU-SBDC director, “Some are offered at no-cost while others have a fee assessed.”

TAMIU'S Julieta and Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM Studies Graduates 50

A cohort of 50 students recently graduated from TAMIU's Julieta and Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM Studies. Students are fully immersed in the college going culture while taking a full load of University courses during their junior and senior year of high school.

"The 2020-2021 school year has been challenging, to say the least. Routines quickly changed, activities and celebrations were cancelled, and adjustments were made to the delivery of the university coursework. In the end, our students forged forward and persevered to completion. Congratulations to the graduating Class of 2021. We are so proud of all your accomplishments."

TAMIU Prof Receives NEH Grant

Texas organizations will receive more than $1.13 million as part of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) humanities projects grants. Among this year's recipients is Dr. Abigail Meert, assistant professor of History. The new NEH grant is part of the federal agency’s recently announced plan to grant $24 million for 225 humanities projects throughout the country that support the preservation of historic collections, humanities exhibitions and documentaries, scholarly research, and curriculum projects.

TAMIU Continuing Education Holds Upcoming ASL Courses

This beginner American Sign Language (ASL) Course will be offered as part of a non-credit community course this Summer. The course will begin covering numbers and letters and will end with participants engaging in basic conversation. The class is open to the community and is designed for teens to adults.
