About The Artist

I am a Greenville native who has always loved creating. After graduating from high school, I received my Associate of Arts degree from Pitt Community College. I then transferred to East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Animation/Interactive Design. My specific interest in animation was sparked when I created my first claymation in a film and literature class in high school.

Artist Statement

Creating has always provided me with an outlet from the world around me, and the same can be said for movies and shows; I love the feel-good content, the happy endings, and the otherworldly adventures. I strive to create positive and uplifting art; I want to provide my audience with a momentary escape from their lives, as movies and shows have done for me. With that being said, I also know that I wanted to choose a career path I would be happy in so that it would never feel like I was working, and choosing animation felt right. I enjoy the attention to detail, the time and effort it takes to create something, and the continuously increasing technology capabilities in my field. At East Carolina University, I was given the opportunity to experience all aspects of the animation pipeline, but 3D modeling was my favorite part of the production process.

Amsterdam Canals

I completed this 3D environment for my Capstone Project. For the Capstone, students were able to focus on any process of the animation pipeline, and since 3D modeling is my favorite part of the process, I chose that aspect. My goal was to create a realistic environment based on the canals in Amsterdam, Netherlands. I used Google Earth and Google images to explore the canals and gather photos of the buildings I wanted to create; no two buildings within the scene are the same. This piece was vital for me because it shows how capable I am with 3D modeling and my ability to problem solve; for example, several buildings had complicated rooftops, and I could get the shapes I desired.

Coronavirus Experience

For this project, the final exam in my lighting and rendering class, I was given a day to work on it, and the goal was to show how the pandemic had affected me. I wanted to offer a more lighthearted version of the experience for me and felt that plenty of people could relate to it; I think we were all a bit surprised about the toilet paper shortage. This piece was important because it was my first time using the Arnold renderer and working with realistic textures.

Flowing into Fall

This project was designed to show a stream of consciousness based on a theme, Autumn. I enjoy all things related to fall- like the warm clothing, the cool weather, and fall activities with family; I wanted to highlight these aspects. I wanted all my thoughts to transition into one another seamlessly. I enjoyed the orange color scheme and adding the sound effects. This project was the first project where I carefully considered the ending and figured out how to continue applying my theme until the very end.

Bullseye's Adventure:

Mini Loading Game

This project was one of my favorites! I was supposed to design a loading screen for a company of my choosing as the website prepares to open. I decided my company would be Target, and after researching the company, I decided on the color scheme and character. My goal for the loading screen was to make it interactive; that way, the customer has something to do while waiting for the website to open. I created a mini-game where the primary player is Bullseye, Target's mascot. As for the obstacle course, I wanted Bullseye to jump over familiar objects seen at Target locations. The game was simple enough that the instructions could be visuals; the spacebar is the only button required to make Bullseye jump. This project was essential to me because I felt like I came up with a creative solution that would appeal to customers.
