Lucca Tuscany, ITALY

We spent most of the previous day travelling from Sorrento to Lucca. We shared the same train as Amy and Sam, but they departed at the first stop, Rome. It was then on to Florence and a quick change to a regional train headed for Lucca.

After settling into our new digs we hit the old town hard the next day! A lap on foot of the city along the impressive contiguous wall some 4.5km long, then a visit to the Palazzo property, both the residence and gardens gave us just enough time to fit in a light lunch before joining the early afternoon walking tour of the town.

we spent the remaining late afternoon soaking up the last of the sunshine in the Piazza Anfiteatro before purchasing a selection of Pizza’s by the weight and drinks to have one of the first casual meals back in the hotel room!

Tomorrow we will attempt to tackle one of the city towers for 360 deg views of the town before we head off to San Miniato to start our walk to Sienna.
