After undergoing various changes, Flex Time has been implemented throughout the Rockwood District. With this new time comes bells, altered lunches and restricted hallways, but also an opportunity for students to take care of their school-related needs. While these changes have not been implemented at other schools, Lafayette students have had to adjust to the effects of these changes.

Patrick Coats, Freshman

“I think it’s a good place to do schoolwork, study and catch up on classes.”

Andrea Schrieber, Sophomore

“It’s a really good opportunity to be able to finish homework for those who have after school activities, but it also can be hard to manage your time well enough that it’s really productive.”

Sophie Arceneaux, Junior

“Flex is good because a lot of people have after school activities and sports, so the time during school to get [homework] done is a lot better. Since you don’t have every single class every day, you don’t have homework for [all your] classes each night."

Finnegan Stewart, Senior

“I like the fact that we can go around to classes, but the lunch is ridiculous.”

Jessica Kempf, Science teacher

“I think Flex Time can be used well if you know what you’re doing with your time. It’s great for student athletes who may not have a lot of outside of school time to get work done. [Flex] is a good time for students to de-stress--they have a lot of stress and they need to just talk to their friends and hang out.”
