Text & Image Final Project By: Christopher Tillisch

Assignment Overview:

For the final project of the year, involving text & image's, I decided to take a different approach to this assignment by incorporating a famous quote from Benjamin franklin, and two other quotes involving positive motivational quotes that I live by. I also used other concepts I learned previously in class and from working in Photoshop and integrated some of them into the project that would unify the final image with text. I also photographed simplified images such as clouds, flowers, and a rabbit, to help add a noticeable distinction between the photo and the text.

Quote #1: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety".

For the first image, I used a famous quote that Benjamin Franklin wrote. The simple meaning behind this quote is if someone decides they want to trade their freedoms for safety, don’t expect the government to keep you safe without giving up our freedoms in the process for the idea of “safety”. This quote has never been more important, after the past year with the government restricting some of your essential rights, all in the name of “public health”, which is similar to today’s version of what Franklin was describing 200 years ago. For the original photo, I had the capitol building behind the text, but felt the end result wasn't what I was looking for. I took some photos of the clouds in the sky for the text background and liked the result, because the simplistic look of the clouds behind the gradient text

Quote #2: "Newer lose hope. Storms make people stronger and never last forever."

This quote has also been quote meaningful to what the past year felt like by comparing the events to a storm. Even through this year has been tough on everyone, I feel that I have improved and became a stronger student and person because of the hardships encountered and experienced. I used a photo of flowers to represent the hope and how the storm is slowly passing away, giving light for brighter days ahead going into the future.

Quote #3: "All things are difficult before there easy"

I also have lived by this quote this year, especially when using Photoshop for the first time in Photo class, and learning all of the controls associated with it. When I first started using the program, I felt lost and unsure of the many controls in Photoshop being hard, but over the time in class, I started to spend more time working with it, and felt more comfortable using it for projects at the end. The rabbit represents how one can improve a skill and use it to make a challenging subject seem easier by learning new information. I do plan on continuing to work with Photoshop over the summer and into next school year .

My Final Thoughts:

Some of the new knowledge I have taken away from this assignment was continuing to learn and apply my already acquired Photoshop skills for this final assignment. I enjoyed working and experimenting with the blending modes, text color, fonts, size, gradients, and other text and image effects. Before I rap up writing on this blog for the year, I would like to thank you Mr. B for being very supportive of me and helpful, during a tough year. I hope you have a wonderful summer, and get to spend some quality time with your family. I am looking forward to hopefully see you next year in Argus.

Thanks,

Chris
