Dialogue Performance

From this fusion, a "Dialogue" is generated between the body and the particles.

Festival - "Does It Have a Name: Technology"

Two worlds are meeting in this performance: the physical reality and the virtual reality. The first one is reminded by the physical presence of a performer, in this case Roza Kootstra, moving within space. The second one is generated by a software build from scratch by Rah’Fat Ali. White particles are wandering in a dark virtual environment. Their trajectory is influenced by their relations. A depth sensitive camera is constructing the bridge between the particles and the moving body. When a form is located in the camera’s frame, the particles react to the moving body and get magnetized around the silhouette to become one. From this fusion, a "Dialogue" is generated between the body and the particles. It is unclear in this dance who is imitating/following who. At some point the virtual and the physical space are merged together and the physical and virtual silhouettes are interacting directly with each other. Then it is the turn of the pubic who is gradually invited to join this intimate experience, to compose the space.

After this experience the public recalled the various images they envisioned. Some compared the particles to a constellation moving at a speed invisible to man. Others saw in the mouvement of these white pixels a similar behavior to birds flying in flocks. The silhouette that they outlined resembled someone in a snowy storm.
