Ames, Iowa

Ames, Iowa is home to over 60,000 residents and the largest university in the state of Iowa. The town is located just 30 miles north of the state capital of Des Moines, Iowa.

Ames, Iowa boasts over 55 miles of bike trails, four golf courses, 1,200 acres of green space and parks. The town is also home to Ada Hayden Heritage Park, which is home to a 3-mile paved walking and bike path and opportunities to canoe, paddle board, kayak and fish. The endless outdoor opportunities are a large reason the town was named one of the top-10 "Happiest Small Towns in America."

Ames is frequently ranked one of the top small cities in the nation to live, work and play. In 2010, the town was ranked the ninth "Best Place to Live in the United States" by CNNMoney.com.

Main Street is a frequent hot spot for festivals, weekly summer farmers markets and concerts. The main drag is also home to unique shops and local restaurants to give residents and visitors a real taste of Ames.

Bandshell Park, located in the heart of town, is one of just many local parks that host frequent concerts and even town movie nights in the summer.

Hickory Park is a town staple as patrons come from near and far to eat their famous hickory smoked meats. The expansive restaurant, which opened in 1970, is able to feed hundreds at a time and offers over 100 menu selections.
