Justice Reimagined by Group 7

Redefining justice: Our definition of justice is giving the necessary support and tools for an individual's needs. It's important to acknowledge the community rules but treat people with respect according to their differences. Justice can be achieved by perpetuating the school-to-prison pipeline through building structure needed in communities instead of avoiding it which causes bigger problems. Our target audience are schools.

The biggest flaws to the school system is Zero tolerance and lack of care for students.

The issues at school that we're trying to solve is the unfair treatment towards students, criminalizing students from school-to-prison pipeline, & learning to understand our decisions.

Our justice system will solve it through by recognizing positive behavior, explaining punishments w/ reasons why, and training teachers/staff to prepare these conversations.

What are three flaws within the justice system that our new justice system will fix?

1. Reduce numbers of suspensions

2. Increase diversity in staff for schools (black, asians, hispanic etc.)

3. More kids of color graduating and/or going to college

What are the demands/changes our new justice system will implement?

1. More counselors & specific therapists

2. Increase in pay for better quality teachers

3. Change in punishment (sit down talks instead of suspension)

4. Resulting last resort of police

What are the overall goals/outcomes your new justice system will achieve?

Creating a more united community for success

Change the ways of teaching students an important lesson
