Between April 25 and 27, there were over 420 meetings between 35 emerging designers and 48 national and international clients. The clothing, jewelry, and leather designs were also showcased on 16 different catwalks.
The event was hosted for the first time by the city’s chamber of commerce – Cámara de Comercio – at the Salitre Business Centre. The organisers are keen to establish the city as an important fashion capital.
"The Bogotá Fashion Week has been a total catapult for my brand,” said leather designer Ana Laverde. “We found three very interesting opportunities to enter the United States, Canada, Peru, and Mexico at the business conference. Through this process the Cámara has been my best friend and my guardian angel because as a designer, I had no training in business matters and the chamber has given this to me."
One of the high profile international guests was the creative director of Marie Claire magazine Nina Garcia. The event also included two academic panels discussing the relationship between fashion, business and technology, and customer loyalty in the changing world of fashion.
