All Schools Celebrate Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

All of our six schools this past week spent time honoring the life, courage and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. At the elementary level, teachers shared culturally responsive literature about the importance of engaging in acts of kindness and peacefully standing up to injustice in all its forms. Hommocks Middle School shared announcements all week created by Director of Student Life Keila Reyes in remembrance of MLK, including themes of Identity and Uniqueness and exploring the content of one's character. Mamaroneck High School -- furthering the tradition carried on for so many years by beloved recently retired social studies teacher Ms. Shann Turner Porter -- held its first virtual MLK assembly in the midst of the pandemic. The assembly was created and produced by the Multicultural Club in cooperation with the Club advisors and shown in all English classes on Thursday, Jan. 13th.
