Introduction

There are 101 different types of Lemurs. They are mostly endangered.

This is a report on the ring tailed lemur from Madagascar.

Appearance

Ring tailed lemurs have black skin mostly covered by grey fur.

They also have patches of white fur on their faces, ears and under belly.

Their long tails which have a fur pattern alternating black and white rings.

They have bright yellow or amber eyes surrounded by mask like black skin.

What do they Eat?

Ring tailed lemurs eat as much as 3 dozen different plant species, flowers, herbs, bark, sap, decayed wood, grass, dirt, spider webs, insect cocoons, arthropods, small birds and chameleons.

When do they find food?

Ring tailed lemurs hunt at day since they are asleep at night.

They are the only lemur that isn't nocturnal.

What are their predators?

Ring tailed lemurs predators are Fossas, Madagascar Harrier-hawks, Madagascar Buzzards, Madagascar ground Boas, Madagascar Civets, domestic cats and dogs.

Where do they live?

Ring tailed lemurs live in the rainforests of Madagascar, an island off the east coast of Africa.

They spend most of their time on the floor although they do sometimes go into the mid canopy of the trees.
