Sweets For Your Sweet by Quinn Johnston

Valentine's Day is coming up quickly, and it may take some by surprise. So, what happens when you don't have enough time to make complex sweets for your valentine? Well, not to worry! Here are two quick and easy recipes for your sweetheart when you're short on time!

The first recipe is a quick and simple strawberry cake, perfect for a Netflix and cuddle session with your valentine!

First, pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Next, start by greasing the pan. You can use any type of baking grease. Then, lightly flour the pan immediately after you grease it.

"My favorite valentine treat is definitely cake, because it is easy to make," junior Donald Noll said.

To start the cake, combine two eggs, strawberry cake mix, one cup of water, 1/3 cup of cooking oil, and a teaspoon of vanilla. Mix well on medium speed with a mixer for two minutes.

Once finished mixing, immediately pour the batter into a pan and set the pan into the oven for 14 minutes.

Once finished baking, remove cake from the oven and let it cool for 30 minutes.

Once cooled, frost the cake and decorate, then it is finished.

"I prefer chocolate over anything else for Valentine's Day," junior Garret Keusch said, "because it is easy to get."

The second recipe is Cake pops. This one is another quick and easy idea for Valentine's Day!

Start by repeating the cake recipe. Then, crush the cake up into tiny pieces.

Add in icing and mix together with the cake. Make sure to do this step quickly or it will melt.

Next, roll the cake and icing mix into balls. Put them in the fridge to chill.

Finally, melt chocolate in the microwave, dip the cake balls in it, and chill for 3 hours.

There you go! Two quick and easy Valentine's Day recipes to share with your loved ones.
