Central Dispatch CGEMC Newsletter | March 2020

Thinking about solar? Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) makes it easy to add renewable energy at home, without installing or maintaining a single piece of equipment.

Cooperative Solar allows you to reap the benefits of clean energy by adding affordable and renewable solar power to your monthly energy mix. Even renters can participate!

Because our Cooperative Solar blocks have been in such high demand, CGEMC has expanded our solar energy portfolio to include solar fields across the state. This expansion comes with an increase in capacity, enhanced performance reliability, and no waiting list!

Cooperative Solar is available in 1-kilowatt (kW) blocks at an affordable $19 per month, per block. Best of all, you will receive a credit on your monthly bill for kilowatt-hours (kWh) generated by your solar energy block(s). Request your blocks today!

Unclaimed property

Visit our website for the list of unclaimed property from outstanding credit balances with CGEMC as of June 30, 2015. If you know any of these people listed below or their heirs, please have them contact our office during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877. Unclaimed property will be sent to the state of Georgia.

We love our mini-members! We love to visit our community elementary, middle, and high schools! Programs range from safety, bucket truck visits, sources of energy, and even careers in energy. Request a speaker under the community care tab on our website at www.cgemc.com or call Member Engagement Coordinator Christy Chewning, 770-504-7917.

Lead Lineperson Dean Earnhart and Member Engagement Coordinator Christy Chewning have been busy in the community. They represented CGEMC at both the Griffin Career Fair and Touch-a-Truck Day at M&S Magical Stars in Locust Grove.

The dreary day at M&S Magical Stars was made a bit brighter with CGEMC little lineperson hats. Thank you for inviting us!

Welcome to the team!

CGEMC is happy to introduce our newest crew member, Austin Atkinson!

Central Georgia EMC Announces Unclaimed Capital Credit Checks

In compliance with O.C.G.A. § 44-12-236 of the Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act, Central Georgia EMC is attempting to locate former customer-owners whose capital credit checks were issued in 2014, but have been returned by the U.S. Postal Service as “undeliverable” or have otherwise been unclaimed.

A list indicating the names of these former customer-owners can be found by visiting our website, or by viewing the list at our office, located at 923 S. Mulberry St., Jackson, GA 30233. If you know the correct address of these individuals or have any helpful information, please contact our office, or notify the person to contact CGEMC as soon as possible by calling 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877.

The last possible date to claim these funds is August 28, 2020. If not claimed by this date, they will be designated for charitable uses as permitted by O.C.G.A. § 44-12-236.

System Inspections

CGEMC has contracted with Cappstone Energy Group LLC to perform system inspections in the Double Cabins, Kinard Mill, Steele Road, Woolsey, and Zetella substation areas. Cappstone Energy Group LLC technicians will have signs on their vehicles (pickup trucks and UTVs) identifying them as CGEMC contractors. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office at 770-775-7857.

Holiday Closing

The Central Georgia EMC office will be closed on Friday, April 10, 2020. In the event of a power outage, please call our 24-hour automated system at 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877 for an immediate response. Systems operators are on duty to assist you.

In February, a total of $16,213 was awarded by the Central Georgia EMC Foundation to non-profit organizations in our service territory.

Qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations in our service territory are invited to submit an application to the Central Georgia EMC Foundation.

Through Operation Round Up, our members support local organizations with a mission to make our communities even better places to live, work, and dream big. By simply rounding up your monthly electric bill to the next dollar, you can join in! Our pennies add up to make BIG CHANGE!
