3 Words Project HNRS 2000 fall 2020 semester

During the fall semester, students in HNRS 2000 completed a creative project expressing their reaction to the COVID pandemic response. They had to use three words to describe their reaction along with a photo or photos (up to three in total). Each of the six Honors professors chose a winner as well as a student choice winner.

Hunter Wilson was the Student Choice winner for his series of three photos accompanying "Waste No Time."

Peyton Berry's three words were "Prepared, Relaxed, Educated"
"I feel like this is the cycle most of us went through after being sent home. We all watched the news and freaked out. We ran out to the stores and bought up all of the Clorox wipes and toilet paper. And now we have calmed down and are relaxed as we realize this is part of life and we just have to adjust!" — Peyton Berry
Meghan Skelly's photo collage and three words: disruptive, transitional, heartbreaking

Meghan Skelly explained her choice of words:

"Well, first off “disruptive” came to mind because not only did COVID mess up the end of my senior year in high school; but, also my freshman year of college. Everything was thrown into a whirlwind in the matter of a few days and everyone had to adapt VERY quickly in order to keep up. Which lead to the second word: “transitional.” We ALL had to undergo transitions. Teachers, Students, Workers... all of us. No one has ever experienced anything like this situation before, so we all had to transition together. Which was difficult and for many it was “heartbreaking.” Between losing the token experiences such as senior prom, graduation, senior trips, and the first year of freedom in college... there was a good period of about three months where I was kind of lost and very upset with what was happening in the world. However, I had to keep reminding myself that there were people who lost much more than me and we were all going through it together."

Raven Slade chose "Cherish little moments"
"I feel like society is so fast paced that we forget to slow down and be appreciative of the little things we take for granted." – Raven Slade
Cat Harris's submission for the 3 Words Project
"I picked these three words in particular because to me when I look around at the pandemic, I see a lot of fear, surrounding health, economics, and other people. I also see, however caring and loving people who show the face of humanity abs are determined to help others." — Cat Harris
