Theme in the Early Elementary

Making Connections:

It begins with the Read Aloud book.

This year the Early Elementary has the Read Aloud book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret. They do many things related to their Read Aloud, like Math Vitamin and writing. Today we are going to focus on their theme work. Recently they have been sequencing pictures to tell a story of their day. If you have read Hugo Cabret, you know how Brian Selznick does a marvelous job of this, so the Early Elementary is following his lead.

Here is one student with his picture board. If you compare it to Brian Selznick's work, you can see how they relate. This student has even drawn some of the pictures himself to add personalized events to his day.

As you can see, the Early Elementary has done a lot of work related to Brian Selznick's The Invention of Hugo Cabret, and they will continue to do so for the rest of the year!
