...and worse...but there were beautiful smooth tracks too

CASTLES AND ANCIENT CITIES MADE THE RIDING ALONG THE ELBE A HISTORIC EXPERIENCE
a day in dresden
crossing the czech border was a non-event
the river was a little smaller and just as peaceful
The Czech town centres were equally old and just as cobbly
not all the riverside trails were comfortable riding
At Mélnik , we left the Elbe as it turned north towards the Polish border
we turned south, but there were still plenty of cobbles
Kutna horá was worth a stopover for its famous cathedral and a wonderful art exhibition in the cool of the old monastery
cycle routes were well signposted
the final Czech kilometres to the border were, once again, hard going
But the smooth Austrian asphalt brought a sigh of relief
Finally we reached the Danube and rode along the riverside into the city
15 cycling DAYS. 750km and 3300 altitude metres. Lots of cobbles. another great ride
