It begins with you Join WHOlives in giving people access to clean water

6,500+ Wells Drilled, 36 Countries served, 103 Drills in Operation 6M People Impacted

Water Is Essential to Human Survival

In the year 2020, it is estimated that a total of 2.1 billion people globally do not have access to clean and safe drinking water.

Without access to drinking water, these people will suffer from many things including: contamination, illness, fatigue, stress, and in worst cases death. This amounts to over 3.4 million people dying each year from a waterborne illness.

"Water is the most critical resource issue of our lifetime and our children’s lifetime. The health of our waters is the principal measure of how we live on the land.” – Luna Leopold

WHOlives Creates Opportunity Over Dependency

It is vital that this work be sustainable. We establish local ownership and economic viability with each installed water system, which is then maintained and operated by local people long after we are gone.

Traditional methods involve organizations giving and installing water pumps to villages and leaving them no resources to maintain these machines.

Our organization sustains clean water by installing drills, training locals to maintain the machines, and creating a new economic resource within the community to create more opportunities for a better life.

Village Drills and Water Points

WHOlives assists in the installation of advanced drills to create fresh water wells, and the installation of water points to provide water to more rural communities.

Our goal is to help communities take ownership of these drills so they maintain the responsibility to take care of the machines. In order to progress towards ownership, WHOlives has them pay for 10% of the costs to install the drills.

Thats where YOUR help comes in. WHOlives donors and supporters can subsidize the other costs associated with each well, allowing us to install new water points each month! Your support will help cover the costs of the drilling team and required materials (casing, cement pad, water pump, etc).

The Impacts You Can Make Today

Improve Health

A clean water well is superior to an open water source because it prevents a breeding ground for mosquitoes and eliminates malaria. Plus, gastrointestinal diseases from open water sources can be reduced to nearly zero.

Increase School Attendance

Girls are able to attend school and receive a proper education when they are no longer obligated to fetch water during the day. When water is available, these same girls can stay clean during their menstrual cycles and not be forced to miss school

Improve Sanitation

The lack of toilets is in direct proportion to the lack of water. Once water is introduced, communities can then be introduced to effective sanitation controls.

Create Sustainable Jobs

The low cost and robust nature of the Village Drill allows entrepreneurs to create a viable drilling business that was nearly impossible with other manual drilling methods. It can be owned, managed, and maintained by local entrepreneurs.
