- Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, Obesity Reduction in Beaufort County, Call Deadline Jan. 17, 2020; Application Deadline Feb. 4, 2020: Organizations in Beaufort County are working to create more equitable food systems that provide greater opportunities for historically marginalized populations and healthier eating options in schools, daycare centers and hospitals. These groups, along with Rural Forward North Carolina, have mapped out paths to improve healthy food access. To help the community implement their plans, the trust is interested in supporting system change strategies for increasing access to healthy food and building a more equitable food system. Please contact Sharon Hamilton, senior director of corporate and foundation relations, if you plan to submit a proposal. If invited, the final application is due Feb. 4, 2020.
- American Heart Association, 2020 Transformational Project Award, Jan. 20, 2020: The AHA 2020 Transformational Project Award support highly innovative, high-impact projects that build on work in progress that could ultimately lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate the field of cardiovascular and/or cerebrovascular research. Research deemed innovative may be built around an emerging paradigm, approaching an existing problem from a new perspective, or exhibit other uniquely creative qualities.
- Rockefeller Foundation, Food System Vision Prize, Jan. 31, 2020: The Food System Vision Prize is an invitation for organizations across the globe to develop a vision of the regenerative and nourishing food system that they aspire to create by the year 2050. Each of the 10 winners will receive $200,000 and the opportunity to collaborate and network with other food system stakeholders addressing systemic food issues with six interconnected themes: the environment, diets, economic, culture, technology, and policy.
