Secure Your UTRGV Student Account MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATON COMING FALL 2021

Download Microsoft Authenticator

On September 21, 2021, Multifactor Authentication (MFA) services will provide another layer of security for student data.

The Microsoft Authenticator app is the only approved application for UTRGV MFA.

Do not use a different authenticator app.

Now you're ready to Register!

STEP 1: Log in at my.UTRGV.edu.

STEP 2: You will be prompted with a pop-up message asking you to register. Click Proceed.

Phone - Mobile phone is preferred to receive security codes via text

Microsoft Authenticator - The application is preferred for times when you have limited or no phone service. You will be prompted to approve or deny the authorization to your UTRGV account through the app.

Email - Add an alternate email to reset your password.

Review your registered phone number for Multi-factor Authentication on the My Sign-Ins page.

Register New Phone

If you recently got a new phone, you will need to replace your registered phone for Multi-factor Authentication

Be vigilant. Be safe.

Beware! If you didn’t initiate the multi-factor authentication method, don’t approve!

Be aware of random multi-factor authentication (MFA) request for malicious attempts to compromise your UTRGV account and other personal accounts.

Only respond to the MFA Authentication method you chose immediately after you initiated the authentication process when accessing your account.

If you didn’t initiate and you get randomly called or prompted to approve authentication, choose deny.

The multi-factor authentication process is to provide an added layer of protection, but it’s only as strong as your awareness to potential threats.
