Chemistry Lower Elementary

The lower elementary chemistry curriculum introduces students to the study of matter and how it changes. Nomenclature cards introduce proper scientific terminology, while experiment cards allow students to experience first-hand the concepts being taught. Distinctions are made between physical and chemical changes as students explore the properties of matter and how they can be manipulated.

A teacher's guide is included to help you guide students through the experiments to reach scientifically accurate conclusions. Also included are historically famous chemists to aid students in connecting their study of science to the history of inquiry.

In many ways, the study of matter and its properties is the history of civilization, and the people who shaped it.

Includes task cards with hands-on student directed experiments using everyday items  to explore aspects of chemical properties including:

  • States of Matter
  • Physical Change
  • Acids and Bases
  • Chemical Change

Nomenclature with striking full-color images is included to familiarize students with scientific terms used to describe the properties of matter. Important vocabulary for physical and chemical processes and attributes are included as well.

Our nomenclature extends to include a wide variety of instruments used in scientific inquiry.

This material is available on cardstock, or printed on durable thick plastic.
