The Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center Vol. 4: Ice Arena

The Colby men's and women's ice hockey teams took the ice for their first practices in the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center Ice Arena on October 15th, 2020. The 1796-seat arena is home to both teams, as well as future recreational skating offerings as part of Colby Recreation. The arena houses the Colby Mules Home Hockey Bench and visiting team bench, media box and Nevco 4-sided, center-hung scoreboard.

The first three days of full team practice in the new rink have been incredible! Not only is the arena breathtaking but we've gained so many functional spaces for our athletes to train, recover, review film, study, and develop their skills. The Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center has had an immediate impact on our program and gives us the best facility in the NESCAC to attract future Mules!
Holley Tyng, Head Women's Ice Hockey Coach
We now have a first class Division 1 type of facility to continue the growth of our program and student athletes. We are not lacking in any amenities and tools for maximum enjoyment and development. From the spacious Williams Family Men’s Ice Hockey Locker Room to the Cerepak-Knight Room with the best audio visual aids, as well as multiple video camera systems including two cameras in the bottom of our center ice hanging scoreboard. It is pure joy to be in the facility.
Blaise MacDonald, Jack Kelley Head Coach for Colby Men's Hockey

The Cerepak-Knight Room overlooks the ice arena and provides functional space for team meetings, film review, game day events and more.

New locker rooms, including the Williams Family Men's Ice Hockey Locker Room, provide ample space for Colby teams to comfortably carry out pre-game preparations.

Stadium seating rows allow for ticketed events.
