What do you want to learn? Mary Marotta

Here are a few technology updates I wanted to share with you. - Google Apps for Education, GAFE is now called G Suite for Education.

Sharing off the school domain

High School students and sharing Google Drive items outside of the school domain. We now have the ability for high school students to share a Google Doc outside of the domain. If a student creates portfolios they can now insert a google doc or presentation and share with the parents or for a potential internship. If students have an important document, a college essay they could use this technique to share it with their personal gmail account. We still recommend if seniors want to take all of their Google Drive files before graduation, they use Google Takeout.

Chromebooks and Google Cast edu - Teachers can install the Google Cast For Education App. This will allow the student to share their screen to the teacher laptop/projector. We have used with a few classes this month and teachers have found it to be a great classroom management tool. In order for this to work, students MUST shut down their chromebooks, not just close the lids, in order for the chrome browser to update. Check out the video below!
