Welcome to Zegreb

The town of Zagreb has a lot to offer in its different areas. The thousand-year old Gornji grad (Upper town) contains the Presidential Palace, the historic church of St. Mark’s, the Croatian parliament, along with museums and galleries. They are all set in romantic cobbled streets, which are lit by gas lamps in the evening. The other extraordinary district is the 19th century Donji grad (Lower town) with its shops, restaurants, cafés, theatres, parks and spectacular buildings. Zagreb is also a city of green parks and walking paths, with many places to visit in the beautiful surroundings. In spite of the rapid development of the economy and transportation, it has retained its charm, and a relaxed feeling that makes it a genuinely human city.

Day 1 Zegreb

Enjoy your private airport transfer to your hotel with vehicle and driver. For your added comfort, an English speaking guide will help you to check in and walk you through the welcome package documents, your itinerary and answer your questions. A welcome package with a city map and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip. Meet your private guide at the hotel and depart on foot for a private half-day walking tour of Zagreb. Croatia’s elegant capital is an eclectic mix of Central European architecture and unbeatable Mediterranean charm. It is a city of lush parks and avenues, grandiose edifices and quirky museums, everyday café culture and al fresco living. Enjoy the greenery of Zrinjevac Park, the haste in Ban Jelacic Square, and talk history in the twin medieval settlements of the Upper Town: secular Gradec and ecclesiastical Kaptol. Walk the Upper Town's cobblestone streets, spot medieval towers, the vivacious green market, as well as old houses and churches. Visit the Museum of Naïve Art, to see some unique 'outsider art' produced by Croatians over the years. Continue by funicular to the Lower Town, dominated by the impressive building of the Croatian National Theater. The neo-baroque edifice is surrounded by numerous Art Nouveau buildings that represent Croatian architecture of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Conclude with a walk back to your hotel, or if desired, spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure in the Lower Town and enjoy the charming ambiance of the streets full of boutiques, cafes, and bookshops

Day 2 Zagreb to Split

Enjoy a private transfer from Zagreb to Split with a guided 4-hour stop at Plitvice Lakes, a complex of 16 lakes located between the mountains of Mala Kapela. The 19.5 hectares of wooden hills enclose the lakes by a series of waterfalls and cascades. Admire the landscape formed by the mineral-rich waters that carve new paths through the rock, and enjoy your time in the middle of nature. You will meet your local guide at the park before entering. Entrance fees are included.

Split is the second largest city in Croatia. It is a dynamic and vibrant holiday resort that turns into life over the lively summer season. Its pulsating heart is concentrated in the compact Old Town, composed of the orderly streets and monuments of the imposing Roman emperor's abode. Just a stone´s throw away from the Palace, Riva, the evocative seafront promenade, runs parallel to the city in a hub of activities that buzzes with life since the early hours – wealthy in shops, cafes and bars, the seafront boardwalk is where both locals and tourists congregate day and night, mingling and mixing. If the city centre and the crowded beaches have become a major draw for tourists, Split peninsula is where serenity reign supreme and a backdrop of Mediterranean flora shapes the atmosphere.

Day 3 Split-Stroll the Magical Streets

Set out on foot with your private guide as you embark on a walking tour of historic Split, a 1700-year-old town widely recognized as home to Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll visit this living monument, initiated back in 293 AD as a place for Roman emperor Diocletian to live out his final days. You'll discover the basement halls of the Palace and the unique role they played in the history of Split. Discover the Peristyle, the monumental courtyard of the Palace which gave access to the imperial apartments, Diocletian's mausoleum, and the three temples built to the west. You'll visit the Cathedral of St. Domnius (named after the patron-saint of Split), the temples of the Palace, as well as the suites of the Emperor. Afterward, explore the waterfront promenade of Split, the lively open green market and monuments not only from antiquity, but also from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods. When your tour concludes, feel free to enjoy some time at your leisure to immerse yourself into the town’s famous Mediterranean charm, the mixture of historic layers, and the silent beats of history.

More than a thousand-year history is reflected in every part of the town. As one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Dubrovnik owes its special charm to the historic monuments which testify to its rich history. While strolling with your guide down Stradun, the main street, pause for a visit of the Franciscan monastery of the Order of Friars Minors, preserving one of the three oldest pharmacies in all of Europe. Continue down to the 15th century knight statue known as the Orlando Column, and the 16th century Sponza Palace, then visit the Church of St. Blasius, dedicated to the patron-saint of the town. You'll also discover the medieval Rector’s Palace, the magnificent structure of the dukes of Dubrovnik, and the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary, home to originals by Tiziano and Rafaelo among other valuable relics. Afterward, you'll part ways with your guide for some time at leisure to explore this stunning town on your own, allowing you to discover some local curiosities nestled in the intricate network of the cobblestone streets. Perhaps take a walk along the city walls (1.5 miles around the old town), visit one of the numerous museums, or take a funicular ride to the top of the Mount Srd. Afterward, make your way back to the hotel independently.
