2018 AGM Annual General report

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & BOARD CHAIR

This past year can be best described as a year of change and reflection. With new leadership at both the local and provincial levels of government we have found ourselves in a position to critically review all that we do, why we do it and how. At the start of 2017, we began the development of our 3 year strategic plan and as such we were in a good place to take stock, map-out the next few years of our journey and demonstrate the strength and success of our organization. The Board of Directors along with Senior Management set key critical priorities for MCRC; Community Leadership, Program Growth and Stability, New Opportunities. Within the parameters of these priorities, and related objectives, staff have created a measured and exciting plan that will see us through the next 3 years.

One of the first questions asked of us when our Regional Children’s Services assumed management of the EarlyON system was “What makes you proud?” Although the question was directed specifically to our EarlyON programs, we couldn’t help but extend the question to all that we do. MCRC works hard to meet the on-going needs and priorities of our community and to deliver the best services and support at the right time, in the right place and at the highest of quality standards. We are proud of our Educators, and of our Support Staff. We are proud of our Volunteers and of our Members and we are proud of the quality early learning environments we have created for our children and the healthy workplace environment for our staff. We are proud of our partnerships in the community and we are tremendously proud of our families and our children who are the reason we do what we do and how we do it. Our families are strong, committed and dedicated to the exceptionally important role they play in facilitating healthy growth and development of their children. They are our partners and our advisors in providing healthy and enriched environments that create the best early learning and care for children. We are so proud of our children who teach us how to be curious, how to learn, how to treat each day and each moment as a new opportunity for discovery. Our children are competent and they are capable and they are our inspiration.

This year’s annual report has been designed to provide a visual opportunity for you to see what makes MCRC proud.

Sincerely,
