Pandas

Pandas are an important symbol for peace and friendship in China. Pandas were classified as "endangered" up until 2016, and are now reclassified as "vulnerable". Three hundred out of 1,864 of them are living in zoos.

The Chinese people never really mentioned the Pandas in past. It was westerners who first really learned about them in 1869, while China laid their eye on the dead specimen from the locals hunter. In 1929 at the Chicago Field Museum mounted up a panda courtesy of the Roosevelt brothers.

When most Chinese people hear the word giant panda they think that they are a symbol of national pride, warrier, peace, and friendship because they can withstand the cold temperatures(-14 or -4°c), they can also look for food in cold, and a very friendly animal when it come to playing with each other. During that battle in Xizhou Dynasty, they used a flag to feature a Panda named Zouya.

Chinas Ancient Clothing

Archaeologists have found artifacts as old as 18,000 years that were used for sewing ancient clothing in China. They include bone sewing needles, stone beads, and shell with holes on top. There are four different traditional Chinese clothing such as Hanfu, Qipao for the women's, Tang suit, Zhongshan suit for the mens. But each of these names, is different style of clothing.

Hanfu History

The Hanfu Clothing consisted of narrow-cuffed, tunic tied tunic with a sash, and a narrow, ankle length skirt(Chang), thats worn with a bixi. Hanfu where made with silk painted with red and green. The collar of the outfit was crossed and tie to the right while the skirts would vary in lengths from the knees to ground length. The decoration of the dress, skirt, and the wideness of the sleeves tell people what class that person is in.

The Qipao in the 17th century would be worn by a women nearly everyday, but as 1950 came around Qipao would still be worn quite often. But now in present day they only time people would wear the Qipao would be at a wedding, parties, and beauty pageants.

In Shang society, the King was also the priest. They would worship the God named Di and the people believed that their dead ancestors got the messages from this God and then send them to the King. When every the King captured prisoners from wars, the King would kill them for a sacrifice to their God.

Shang Leadership

Over the 600 years of the Shang Dynasty, there were 30 emperors! The first king, Tang, was a good leader and worked to improve the lives of his people instead of just taking their money and labor. This provided a model for many other leader that followed after him.

The last emperor/King was King Di Xin and his people wanted to end his rule. When another outside army tried to attack the Shang Dynasty Capital, many Shang soldiers refused to fight the outside army, but instead joined them instead. Subsequently Di Xin commited suicide and that was the end of the Shang Dynasty.
