With the holidays approaching, families all around are beginning their festivities. Regardless of what they celebrate, each household has their own way of celebrating during the holidays.
Christmas festivities before the holiday include decorating the house by setting up the christmas tree and adding christmas lights to the exterior of the house. On Dec. 25, according to Time and Date, most people get together with friends and family to enjoy a meal and open gifts from one another.
Dani Tamim is a sophomore at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School this year who is a huge Christmas fanatic. She has been looking forward to her favorite holiday all year long, and is ecstatic that it is finally here.
This year has been far from normal, so it would not be surprising if family Christmas traditions change this year.
“Every year my family gets a natural Christmas tree and we decorate it together as a family,” sophomore Dani Tamim said. “It has always been really important to me and my family that we decorate our tree together because we have done it since I was little.”
Every family has a unique tradition that they do throughout the holiday season. Building and continuing traditions are something that certain families stand by and will continue to do forever.
“On Christmas Eve, me and my brother are allowed to open one gift that night before opening the rest of them on the morning of Christmas Day. It is another tradition that my entire family has done for many years that I plan on carrying on to my own kids later in life,” Tamim said.

Whether or not your family celebrates Christmas, the holiday season is a time to be cheerful and grateful for what you have in your life and to learn that you should not take anything for granted. Dani and her family build new traditions every year on Christmas, so it is never too late to start your own.
