We have almost made it! A huge thank you to all members of our school community for the collective efforts made during Term 3 to make the best of difficult circumstances as two further lockdowns impacted heavily on everyone. Congratulations to our students for your resilience and determination, to the staff for continuing to adjust and adapt whilst providing a program of remote learning and the parents and guardians for everything that you have done trying to support this learning whilst also trying to manage your own employment and households as well. Let’s hope the return to onsite is sooner rather than later.
COMPASS NOTIFICATIONS As I write this, the road map to a return to onsite learning hasn’t been articulated as yet. The moment any information becomes available, I will be sure to share it, so please keep your Compass notifications set during the holidays. As mentioned in previous newsletters, whilst the Grade 5 camp to Lady Northcote in Bacchus Marsh is very unlikely, we are holding our nerve until the last minute just in case there is the chance to get it over the line, so there will definitely be communications in that regard during the break.
THANK YOU It is with some sadness that we farewell Karen Butler on Friday. Karen has been with us for more than two terms in an Acting Assistant Principal role and her impact on school operations has been significant. Karen has a terrific work ethic, and has shared her skills (especially in data management and excel) with all staff as well as managing the demands of her ‘daily operations’ role very professionally. We wish her well in her next endeavour.
OSH CLUB HOLIDAY PROGRAM The holiday program will run over the break EXCEPT for September 28 and 29, when our power upgrade takes place. Users of the service will have received advice about arrangements in recent days.
FOOTY DAY I trust that today’s activities appealed to, and engaged, most of the children. The students and staff ‘passing the footy around’ video was fun and thanks to the specialist team for putting together a range of challenging and interesting activities. I figure the Bulldog and Demon supporters in our community are counting down the sleeps until the big day on Saturday week – it is shaping as a great game.
Whilst we enter a two week holiday break without the freedoms that we would like, I hope nonetheless that everyone enjoys the break and fingers crossed for a quick return to school in Term 4.
Kind regards,
Bill Kersing
Principal
WE MADE IT! Congratulations everyone for your perseverance and hard work throughout Term 3.
In true Viewbank spirit, we have pulled together and made the best of the tricky circumstances we find ourselves in. It certainly hasn’t all been smooth sailing and I know many of us have had to dig deep to find the motivation in order to remain positive each day.
Enjoy the holidays and the simple pleasures of slowing down, slipping out of set routines and sharing time together. You have certainly earned it.
Finally, I’d also like to extend my thanks to Karen Butler for all that she has contributed to Viewbank during her time as Acting Assistant Principal.
Stay safe and take care
Gill
Thank you to the wonderful Viewbank community I would like to thank everyone for the support that I have received since joining Viewbank earlier this year. It has been a privilege to work with such wonderful children, dedicated staff and caring parents. One of the real strengths of Viewbank is the spectacular staff; the teachers and support staff are dedicated, professional and caring. It is always exciting to work with our students, parents and carers at Viewbank because it is evident that education is considered a collaborative effort. I have learned a lot from the Viewbank community during my time here and will take those experiences and lessons with me for years to come.
Wishing all students and families a safe and restful break.
Karen Butler

This week, so many of our super students and staff donned their favourite footy and sporting colours and participated in the Viewbank Primary School ‘pass-the-footy’ video challenge! We saw backyards, parks, streets, kitchens, school, garages, pets, tricks and much more as we virtually passed the footy and other things around. The smiles on the faces of the students and staff were wonderful to see, and we’re sure that the whole Viewbank community will love watching the final video during our special ‘footy day’ today. Here is the link to watch the video for yourself!
