Since April 2011, HBO’s adaptation of George RR Martin novel series- A Song of Ice and Fire- has dominated the screens of millions around the world. Season seven of the series came to an end August 27 of 2017 with the supposed allegiance between the Starks, Targaryens, and Lannisters, as well as the inevitable arrival of winter where the dead march south of the wall.
Fans had over a year to speculate about the final conclusion to this epic tale. With the final season less than a week away, we asked students and faculty to give us their season 8 predictions.
Question: What are you hoping to see in the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones? And which character to you not want to see fall?
“I would like to see Cersei hit the sack...just drop dead, I want to see it. I know they are planning on making a spin off, so I hope in this last season they start building the characters for the spinoff. The show is so good- it can’t just end. “The fact that we are beyond the books now leaves open every possible possibility. So what I think that is going to happen is that the Night King and his army of the dead are going to swarm all the way down to King’s Landing: I’m pretty sure your different factions and houses are going to unite despite the whole Cersei [scheming], but honestly I see this not ending well for the realm of men. “I hope to see the full redemption of Jaime Lannister and I want to see a bitter-sweet ending to it, nothing too happy or too dark just right in the middle. Lots of guys die, but everyone lives because of it. "Valyrian Steel is made out of Dragonglass. Cersai is going to die, Jamie is going to kill her. Although, Jamie will be killing his kid so that’s troublesome. “I am excited about the white walkers coming through the wall- that’s terrifying and super exciting-, Cersei getting some sort of terrible outcome- those are the things I am excited for. Tyrion is my favorite character, I really can relate to him in a lot of ways, so I hope nothing bad happens to him. “I want Jon Snow to ride a dragon because now that there is some evidence that he has Targaryen blood I feel like he should ride a dragon, that is my hope. I want to see Daenerys go all the way, she’s my favorite character, so she has got to live.
