Students will continue to work to find missing angle measurements of parallel lines cut by transversals. Students will then move into finding angle measurements of triangles using Triangle Sum Theorem and Exterior Angle Theorem. Students will quiz Friday.

Algebra I (Meeks):

Students will be working with the real numbers system. We will explore estimating square roots, convert repeating decimals into fractions, integer exponent operations as well as numbers written in scientific notation. Students will quiz over these topics plus angle relationships and transformations on Friday. Homework is due Friday.

Read 180 (Styron and Barker):

This week students will use a dictionary to find a word’s pronunciation, precise meaning, spelling, or part of speech, use text evidence accurately when explaining the meaning of a text, use clues in the text as a strategy to determine the meaning of words and phrases, determine the central idea of a text and summarize the text, avoiding personal opinions and judgments, and plan, organize, and write an informative paragraph with a topic sentence, central idea, supporting details, and a conclusion.

ELA (MacArthur and Lee):

This week in Mr. MacArthur’s class, we will be watching the movie for The Outsiders, and compare the movie to the book. Additionally, we will start working on our second performance task where the students will rewrite a scene from a different point of view.

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, we will take out novel test over "Bad Boy: A Memoir" on Tuesday, September 14. We will begin working on Performance Task #3, where we will type an original narrative in class.

9th Grade Lit (Lee):

Students will begin reading Part 2 of The Odyssey, focusing on Odysseus's return to Ithaca and his struggle against the suitors. We will also closely examine the character traits of Penelope, and discuss whether or not she can be considered an epic hero. Students will take a quiz over Part 2 of The Odyssey on Friday, September 17.

Science (Winkworth and Herndon):

We are finishing our study of Energy this week. Students will have a Thermal Energy assessment, and then begin reviewing for their Energy Unit Final. We will complete the Energy Unit Assessment on Friday and early next week. After the Final we will begin our exploration of Atoms.

This past week Georgia Studies continued looking at the early colonial period of Georgia and spent part of the day on Friday discussing the 9/11 Terrorist attacks. This upcoming week we will finish with the early colonial period and begin preparing for our first Summative.
