COVID-19 Travel updates

Anyone flying to Canada from another country must provide written or electronic documentation showing they received a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test conducted within 72 hours prior to their scheduled boarding. Without a negative COVID-19 test, travellers will be denied boarding onto their flight. This is in addition to 14-day isolation. Students who travel will be responsible to arrange for the test and cover the cost. Please read the full advisory from Transportation Canada here.

  • Starting February 3, 2021, international flights can only land in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto.
  • In addition to the pre-boarding PCR negative test result, travelers will undergo another PCR test upon arrival in Canada. While waiting for test result (3 days), travelers will need to stay in government-designated hotels. Extra approx. $2000 is required.
  • If tested negative, travelers will continue the remaining quarantine days in the pre-booked quarantine hotel. If positive, need to quarantine in designated government facility.

Air Canada is temporarily suspending flights to and from Prince Rupert - YPR (as of January 18th 2021). Air Canada is the only commercial air carrier that travels to and from Prince Rupert. The closest airport located to the community is approximately 2 hours away in Terrace, which is still in operation. To find out more please visit our Getting here page.

For more information and official news release please visit the Government of Canada website.

Living off campus

Coast Mountain College has offers on campus accommodation at the Terrace campus but has limited rooms due to the COVID-19 protocols. Students who wish to come to Canada to study in country during COVID-19 restrictions should be looking for a place to live off campus as soon as possible. A shared apartment off campus is estimated to range between $500-$800 per month. Utilities may not be included. Visit our living off campus page for links and resources on how to find housing.

New housing construction underway at Terrace campus

Photos are engineering renderings only. Building may look different in real life.

The Terrace campus is finally getting new on campus housing! Coast Mountain College secured funding in 2019 to start construction earlier this summer! There will be 104 rooms with four guest suites for visitors. CMTN has been consulting with First Nations Council and the First Nations communities we serve to design the look of the building inside and out. The housing will hopefully be completed in September 2021. Stay tuned for housing updates in the coming months.
