The COLLAB New Media and Performance

Over the course of a 5-day workshop, Avans students and professional performers worked in interdisciplinary groups to develop prototypes for interactive installations that merged performance with sound, and moving image technology to create new forms of embodiment and interaction.

The work-in-progress were performed on 6 novembre 2020 at St Joost, School of Art & Designe.

Embrance - A group of visitors swirl, flow and interact with a long screen on sound impulses though "the storm of corona".

Speculum - Do you dare to surrender? A performative installation in which visitors are challenged to connect with the "other".

The Control Room - Tired being controlled all day and others controlling your behaviour? In the installation you are in control of all the actions.

Sound Scape - The presence of a visitor can violate the space balance. In the installation this presence is translated into sound.

The Maze - An installation in which visitors play the role of a spectator that interacts with him/herself.

An Unexpected Encounter - People constantly seek connection. In the installation strangers virtually interact only using their body.

Sound Scape

When you walk into a room, your presence acts upon the space balance. If you enter a room in a group, the same phenomenon occurs again. However, we don’t necessarily realise this. In this interactive installation, your presence is translated into sounds. You are free to discover these sounds and others influence in space.
