B-TEC Art and Design Transition project

Task 1

Take time exploring the art2day website. This website showcases a vast range of both traditional and contemporary style Art. It is important to expose yourself to as many different types of art as possible. The wider the variety of art you are aware of, the more independent, exciting and original your own Art work will be.

Book Reviews. The link below takes you to a list of books recommended by Pearson. Take a look at the list and perhaps begin building your own library of Art books

Task 2

Your task is to create a written analysis of a Textiles artist of your choice. I would like you to explore the Textiles section within the Art2day website, selecting an artist that you are particularly drawn to.

Use the Ways of Looking in, link below, to help structure your writing. The supporting writing frame is divided into 4 sections.

1 – A personal approach – What do I bring?

2 – Looking at a subject – What is it about?

3 – Looking at an object – What can I see?

4 – Looking at the context – Relating the work in the gallery to the wider world

It is important that when completing your analysis that you research the answers to the questions and do not guess what you think the answers may be. Ensure that you use reliable sources. ( This is particularly important when you are to write about the message of the art work, and also techniques and processes)

You must focus your analysis on one piece of your selected artists work.

Write your analysis in full sentences. Please use the FORMAL ELEMENTS and ART VOCABULARY worksheets to support your writing.
