Altru Officials Discuss New Hospital

On Tuesday, May 21 several officials involved in the new Altru hospital project spoke to the Grand Forks South Forks Lions. Brad Wehe - Altru CEO, Nicole Benson - Altru Community Relations Specialist and Jonathan Holth - Community Development Director for JLG Architects, discussed in some detail where the project currently is and where they are headed. Please see the photos below for more information.

Brad thanked the Lions for their service and recalled a presentation he did nearly 30 years ago to the Lions club at the invitation of Larry Eickman. At the time he was there to discuss rehabilitation services. He mentioned he was impressed with the size of the group given that many service organizations are seeing memberships decline

Community involvement in the development of the plans for the hospital occurred including meetings/engagement of staff (approximately 500), doctors, and community members. Brad thanked Lions for their service, mentioned being here about 30 years ago on invitation from Larry Eickmann.

The Guiding Principles for the project include:

An emphasis for the project is accessibility and projects a place of healing vs. a place of illness. A safe place, convenient and in a park-like setting. Much thought and input was gathered to determine the current plan as well as planning for the future.

It is a big project - $300 million and is on-time and budget, and is scheduled to open in 2022.
