The PRHS swim team plunged back in the Municipal Pool to participate in their annual intersquad meet to get baseline times for the 2021 swim season. Practices had begun Monday, Feb. 15 and the Crimson and White Meet took place the following Saturday, Feb 20.
The captain of the boy’s team is senior Tre Eade and the captain of the girl’s team is senior Kendall Moffitt. The social distancing didn’t stop Bearcats from cheering fervently for their teammates. Swimmers could be found shouting, “GO GO GO,” repeatedly at the pool's edge.
Since the boys and girls swim teams are separate cohorts, a duct tape line divides the pool deck in half to make sure they maintain the required 20 feet separation of cohorts. Athletes are only allowed to be without a mask when they are actively swimming. Parents and outside spectators were prohibited from attending unless to help run the meet.
“I'm looking forward to competing again and becoming a part of the Bearcat swim family,” Freshman Mackenzie Ruppe said.
