NRMN Enhancements & Highlights MArch 2021

We’ve said that MyNRMN has many new features and enhancements planned for 2021 and now we’re ready to announce the first: MyNRMN Jobs Board! Although we have many new features in the pipeline, we also want to remember and highlight two of our most beloved features, MyMentor and the NRMN Unconscious Bias Course.

MyNRMN Jobs Board

Over the past few years, we’ve seen an increased need for our members to find and share available jobs, internships, summer research programs, etc. Thus far, this need has been satisfied through the My Groups ‘Opportunity Board!’ Now we’re on the cusp of launching an official Jobs Board! The Jobs Board will allow users to post a new job or opportunity, set an end-date for the posting, and provide all of the necessary information for those interested in applying. NRMN Members will be able to search for jobs and opportunities based on key words, like job postings, flag job postings to easily return to later, and leave comments on job postings. We are so excited to announce the new Jobs Board! It’ll be out soon, so keep an eye on the MyNRMN platform and social media for the new feature announcement!

MyMentor

MyMentor is NRMN’s signature one-on-one guided virtual mentoring platform where mentees and mentors connect in a long-term mentorship. To help facilitate the mentoring connection, each dyad receives a series of 19 discussion prompts to guide them through the course of the connection. These prompts focus on culturally aware topics such as aligning expectations, being the ‘other’ in an environment, and rebounding from failure (just to name a few). These connections typically last 4-5 months, but the timeline and duration are completely customizable to meet the needs of each mentee and mentor. NRMN Unconscious Bias Course

This past year has taught us many things: expertise in video calling, that delivery is invaluable, and that we as a country still have a lot of work to do to tackle systemic racism. That last one is tough, and the first step is acknowleding the parts we play. Only then can we start to learn, grow, and create a more equitable society for everyone. The NRMN Unconscious Bias Course is a 5-module course focused on addressing our own personal unconscious biases, identifying microaggressions, creating a solutions toolkit, developing self-awareness, and understanding how these biases affect disparities in medicine and healthcare. This asynchronous course launched in July 2020 and over 850 NRMN members have already enrolled. Click the button below to get started.
