Thunder Express April 2018 Edition

Welcome to the April Edition of the Thunder Express (and yes - for those wise donkeys who noticed - March Edition was missed) 🤭

I, along with all our avid readers, would like to start by thanking our previous Editor for the wonderful job she did and the huge shoes she has left for me to fill 😫 As I can already attest to - this is soooo not an easy job (hence why March was missed😉)

If any Managers/Players/Coaches would like to get something into the Newsletter - Please let me know.

This edition will be a bit scarce on as I don’t have much content 🙄 and I needed to get something out before its suddenly the May edition!!

I have sent the Senior Men and Women a questionnaire (thanks to the wonderful few who filled it out!!) and thought it might be good to get to know them a bit better.

Aparicio Goalkeeper Development Clinic

A couple of our Thunder keepers joined Mario at his Aparicio Goalkeeper Development April Clinic held at Western Pride on the 2nd & 3rd of April. Awesome to see not only our keepers commitment, but also their support of Mario who travels to Toowoomba to train our keepers on Monday nights. Excellent job guys and I’m positive your teams will appreciate your dedication !!!

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - Sat 5th May

Unfortunately- when it comes to getting a time to be able to raise funds for our Club with a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - he have to take the day that we are given!! Therefore our day is May the 5th and this will not suit everyone - but please - if you are able to help at all - for anytime - let your Manager know. We require a minimum of 2 people for an hour during the day. If your kids are old enough to help during your time - they can help by selling raffles tickets or the soft drinks?! Please see your Managers this week and let them know if/when you can help out 👏🙏🏼

Mothers Day Raffle

We have some Mothers Day Raffle Tickets to sell too !! This will be drawn on Wednesday the 9th of May - just in time to make a wonderful Mum’s day present !! Tickets are $2.00 each and we have a couple of wonderful prizes to be won. Each team has a book of tickets to sell - so please see your Managers and help out by buying some!! I also suggest to some of the other children (like my Son) that it’s good chance to maybe win your mum a nice present instead of thinking about it the Saturday before Mother’s Day 😂😉

Managers: Money and tickets (sold and unsold) need to be back by Friday - either to the Thunder Office or Mandy will be at Capt Cook for half hour at 4.30pm Friday

These are our only two fundraisers this year !!!! Please help out/support where you can !!

Priceline Pharmacies Northpint & Grand Central

We are so incredibly proud to announce that Priceline Pharmacies at Northpoint and Grand Central are the new Sponsors for the NPLW Thunder teams. Over the next few weeks we will be announcing some great offers for the girls - so watch this space !!!!

So we ask you all to show your support and thanks by shopping at these Pharmacies !!

U12 sap boys

The U12 SAP boys put on a display of quality football for their first game of the season, showing plenty of heart and determination. The Rochedale Rovers came away with the win (3-1) but it was not without a sustained fight from our boys. Mitch took an opportunity late in the second half to end the game on a high note for the team.

U10 SAP team
U9 sap team

The under 9 SAP boys took the field for their first game on Sunday and were all extremely excited and a little nervous. After watching numerous training sessions it was wonderful to see that they all had been listening to Tom at training and you could certainly see them using the skills they had been learning. They played as a team and Tom let them make decisions for themselves. They may have conceded a few goals but everyone kept on trying. Bring on next weekend J

A message from this lowly editor 😉 My name is Sonia Lobwein - my hubby David is the photographer you may see squatting on the sidelines of your games capturing those incredible photos (not bias at all here) !! As for me - most of the time you may find me on the gate 😫

I don’t like doing the gate - and every time I think I will refuse next time I get asked - I realise I can’t !! I can’t because this is my Sons team - and while ever he is proud to pull on that Thunder jersey and run onto that field and give it his all - then I will help this Club where ever I can. I want him to be part of a wonderful Club with a good culture - and the way the senior players have accepted a 17yr old into the team and shown him encouragement and support - I realise we have that Club !!! We have amazing players in both the Men’s and Women’s team who are great mentors for our younger Club members !!

We might not have our incredible Clubhouse full of pokies or wonderful Greek or Itialian food at the Canteen or a Stadium to call our own - but we can have Club Pride - that costs us nothing!!! So please volunteer to help out just once (you meet some beautiful people doing gate😉) and be proud of our wonderful Club and your child’s accomplishments in playing for the Blue and Yellow - because I know I am.
