Monday, Sept. 13

Dear University community,

  • Texas A&M International University is part of a select group of Top Public Universities in Texas, ranking eighth among 500 public colleges and universities in the Niche 2022 assessment. The ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education alongside millions of reviews from students and alumni. Just last week, TAMIU was ranked fourth among US Colleges in the South by Washington Monthly for its Best Bang for the Buck Ranking.
  • Mandatory random COVID-19 testing is underway here on campus. If you’re selected, you’ll need to test within 72 hours. Additional details will be provided in your selection notification to your TAMIU email account. The testing is at no cost to you and helps us to actively secure the health and wellness of our campus community. Again, this testing is mandatory and there are consequences for non-compliance.
  • We’ll begin our annual observation of Hispanic Heritage Month with a traditional El Grito, Thursday, Sept. 16 from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Student Center Green. Activities are planned through Friday, Oct. 15. For more information, visit here.
  • TAMIU TRiO Student Support Services recently observed a milestone, their 20th Anniversary, and honored program students. The University’s TRiO programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education and provide academic assistance to eligible undergraduate students. A second TRiO program focused on the STEM fields is also available at TAMIU.
  • Curious about the heavens above? We’ve got a place for you…the Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium has reopened with limited seating! Read more about upcoming shows and operations.
  • Our Student Government Association and Faculty Senate helped create this video encouraging using face coverings on campus. Visit our COVID-19 Response Center and our Fall Together@TAMIU Plan for faculty, staff, and students for more on the University’s ongoing COVID-19 response.
  • COVID-19 Vaccinations are available on campus. Our National Guard partners are making vaccinations available every Wednesday throughout September from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the Student Center Rotunda. Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are available for anyone 12 years old or older. Third doses are also available for those eligible. More info here.
  • BTW, if you’d like to be eligible for some great prizes, including free tuition, consider joining our Be A Champ, Get the Shot campaign. Meet some of our winners.

Have a great week… and Go Dustdevils!

TAMIU Ranked Eighth Among Top Public Universities in Texas

TAMIU has joined a select group of Top Public Universities in Texas, ranking eighth in the 2022 assessment compiled by Niche.

“We are always encouraged by analyses that gauge our efforts to serve our students and ensure their success. These rankings are important comparative barometers and can offer keen insight into a University’s commitment and mission delivery. I was especially pleased to see students’ assessments of their professors and that 82% agree professors put a lot of effort into teaching their courses and that 75% feel tuition is affordable and very accessible. It’s also important to note that 91% of graduates are employed two years after graduation, considerably above the national average of 83%.”

- Dr. Pablo Arenaz, University president
