Participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk helps raise awareness By: Margot Richlin '23

This past Sunday, American Cancer Society hosted their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Sherwood island. The walk has been taking place for over two decades across the tri-state area and helps raise awareness for breast cancer. Those who participate in the walk are helping to fund breast cancer research.

A tent was open throughout the event for breast cancer survivors to enjoy a complimentary breakfast.
In addition to the walk, a stage was set up where multiple opening ceremony performances took place including a pre-walk zumba warm-up.
Alison DePinto led a dance warm-up for participants.
Many organizations attended the walk including Aware club representatives from Staples High School, Westport police and Westport firefighters. Booths were also set up for participants to visit including a merchandise booth which sold Making Strides shirts, etc.
People of all ages participated in the walk which commenced at 10 AM.

The Making Strides Breast Cancer walk was a huge success due to all of those who came to support breast cancer survivors, raise awareness, money and walk for a good cause. It has always been a great experience that brings together communities of people, spreads support and shares positivity.
