Camp Refuge 2020 Year in Review

What made this year special?

Establishing new ground

We were pleased to host our first "Firm Foundations" premarital couples during our spring retreat this year.

Strengthening bonds

We hosted 22 couples over two retreats. They all experienced activities that intentionally opened up discussion and greater levels of trust

Healing

By offering a 'safe haven for all seasons of life,' many couples let down their guards and experienced deep reconciliation with one another and our Lord.

Guest Tent Platforms

We were so blessed to have 10 individuals & organizations give over $6500 to build 13 platforms!

Led by the expert team of Thibodeauxs from Louisiana Carpentry, 19 volunteers spent over 100 man hours to complete the platforms before our March retreat guests arrived. The wooden decks provided an 'elevated experience' for our guests with added charm and improved function!

Greenscreen

To better foster an environment of 'unplugging from distractions,' we purposed to build a hedge wall between us and the traffic of a new neighborhood. Supporters gave over $5,000 to purchase evergreeen shrubs to cover 600 feet of fenceline.

Led by our friends and past retreat guest the Daigles from Landscape Specialists, our awesome crew of volunteers planted 67 shrubs over a weekend.

A call to time away. A time to invest in the most important relationships.
“My greatest takeaway was learning to trust my husband more & know that he & God are always there. That they will never abandon me. Also, our communication will be better too!” Rebecca
“The active listening tools for disagreements and problems [were my greatest takeaway]. There are many, many others, but active listening is one of the best and most-needed. This whole experience has made such a positive impact on our marriage! We were not here by accident”. Anonymous
“Amazing weekend that helped strengthen our marriage and bring us closer to God and each other.” Jody
“The time my husband and I had to take to dig deep and find those opportunities where God could heal me/ us and grow us closer together [was my greatest takeaway]. That time spent was hard, but precious.” Sonya
Each year our care team continues to grow. This year, we welcomed the Migues. So excited to have such incredible partners in this mission of reconciling, strengthening, and establishing relationships in our community!

Sneak Peak

2021 holds some exciting developments. We are planning to enter into a long term lease on beautiful property in Breaux Bridge.

Pray with us as we ask for guidance and funding to further our mission into the decades to come!

May the Lord bless and keep you and yours in the year to come!
