How to: keep busy in quarantine by Katie de Waard

With at least three weeks away from school due to COVID-19 (with more possibly in store), cancellations are opening up hours of free time. Here are some things you can do with all of the additional time.

Hours of Seasons

Television accessibility remains largely unaffected by the quarantine as of yet, so here are some possible shows to binge during these trying times. The list is ranked from least to most graphic in terms of violence and adult content.

Hit the Books

Naperville Public Libraries closed on Monday, with a tentative reopening date of Mar. 30. Fortunately for NPL cardholders, the library offers a wide range of ebooks on Overdrive. The following are all currently available as ebooks to borrow.

Reel Time

For shorter bouts of boredom, movies are a perfect way to fill gaps without consuming time like television shows sometimes can. However, some of the films listed below are extremely long or part of a marathon-able collection. Unlike television shows, this list is ranked based on watch length.

Keeping Your mind and Body Busy

Humans weren’t built to sit inside for long periods of a time. If my dog is any indicator, solitude and immobility can cause negative physical and emotional repercussions. To combat a sedentary lifestyle, I compiled the following list of crafts, activities and chores. Hopefully they will improve mental health as well.
